Volvo announces electric XC90 successor called EX90

The all-electric successor to the Volvo XC90 will be called the EX90 and will be unveiled on November 9. Volvo Cars has now officially announced this. However, the Swedes are not yet giving any details about the powertrains - but they are giving the first details about the installed safety systems.

What is clear, however, is that the EX90 will only be offered with electric powertrains and will be based on a new e-platform that will later be used in other Volvo models - just as the manufacturer did with the second-generation XC90 in 2014 and the then-new SPA platform.

Volvo Cars plans to release more information on the upcoming all-electric flagship SUV in the coming weeks, and it's likely to be a bit by bit about individual systems and features, with full specs on the powertrain, battery, charging system and range not expected until the debut in November.
