Vietnamese electric car maker VinFast has received its first major order shortly after appearing at CES, with Artemis DNA becoming the first US fleet customer to reserve 100 vehicles from VinFast.
These are examples of the VF 6, VF 7, VF 8 and VF 9 series - in other words, all models except the smallest VF 5. It is not clear from the announcement how many examples of each series have been reserved. The exact financial size of the deal is also open, as VinFast has so far only priced the VF 8 and VF 9. What is clear, however, is that the reservation is being made at "the price points announced by VinFast" - so there does not appear to be any discount. Deliveries are expected to start in the fourth quarter of this year.
VinFast had unveiled the five models at its Global EV Day at CES - and announced a factory in Germany. Not all of the models are new, however; the VF 8 and VF 9 are the models VinFast had already unveiled as the VF e35 and VF e36. We've summarized the known info about the vehicles here.
The first U.S. fleet customer is a clinical diagnostic laboratory company founded and led by Emylee Thai.
