Statkraft makes another acquisition in the charging infrastructure sector: the Norwegian state-owned energy company announces the acquisition of a 51 percent stake in Swedish provider Bee Charging Solutions. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2021.
Together with Statkraft's Swedish charging company Grön Kontakt, Bee Charging Solutions is to be merged into one of the largest operators in Sweden called Mer Sweden. Bee Charging Solutions operates more than 2,000 public charging stations in Sweden and has an estimated market share of 15 to 20 percent.
Statkraft's charging business will be consolidated under one organisation in parallel and renamed Mer in the first quarter of 2021. Active in addition to Sweden, the spun-off business will also be active in Norway, Germany and the UK. Head of Mer will be Kristoffer Thoner, who comments on his appointment: "I'm looking forward to taking on the task and creating the best and most consumer-focused electric car charging company in Europe together with the rest of the organisation and our new colleagues in Bee."
