The Romanian city of Târgu Jiu will add eleven Solaris trolleybuses to its fleet. The Trollino 12s will transport passengers in the city of 80,000 inhabitants at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains from the beginning of 2022. The order is worth almost €4.5 million.
Solaris was awarded the contract following a tender by the Ministry of Public Works, Development and Administration (Ministerul Dezvoltării, Lucrărilor Publice Și Administrației).
According to the Polish manufacturer, the ordered vehicles will be equipped with 160 kW electric motors, offer 35 seats each and can carry a total of up to 91 passengers.
For Solaris, the order is the latest in a series of orders from Romania. In Baia Mare, Galați and Cluj-Napoca, almost 100 trolleybuses from Poland are already in service, while further orders from Ploiești and Craiova (battery-electric buses in the latter case) are still being processed. Just a few days ago, the Romanian city of Brașov ordered 25 additional Trollino 18 articulated trolleybuses from Solaris.solarisbus.com.
