Nissan has started series production of the Townstar EV for the European markets. The successor to the e-NV200 is based on the CMF-C platform developed with alliance partner Renault and is now being manufactured in Maubeuge, France.
This completes the electric van trio from Maubeuge: Renault also manufactures the Kangoo E-Tech Electric at the plant, as well as the eCitan for cooperation partner Mercedes-Benz Vans. The Townstar EV is therefore no longer based on a Nissan platform (with production at the now closed Barcelona plant) like its predecessor, but on an Alliance platform. Accordingly, the technical specifications of the electric drive are the same for all three models.
"The production launch of our all-new Townstar EV coincides with World EV Day and is designed to meet the needs of our customers and the growing demand for sustainable powertrain solutions," said Emmanuelle Serazin, LCV & Corporate Sales Director, Nissan Europe. "We are confident that the Townstar EV's many advanced safety features, versatile configurations and practical capabilities will suit sustainable business operations."
