The Norwegian Post has ordered 29 electric trucks from Volvo Trucks. It is the largest order for Volvo Trucks from Norway to date and one of the largest in Europe. The electric trucks ordered by the Norwegian Post have the same powertrain, but are split between different configurations of the FL Electric and FE Electric models with two and three axles respectively.
According to the Norwegian Post's press officer, Kenneth Tjønndal Pettersen, the e-trucks will be put into service quickly and will be used from Tromsø in the north of the country to Kristiansand in the south. Together with three previously ordered e-trucks, Volvo Trucks will deliver a total of 32 electric trucks to the Norwegian Post in 2022.
Volvo Trucks received its largest-ever order for electric trucks in October last year. Northern European shipping and logistics company DFDS ordered 100 Volvo FM Electric. The large order was preceded by a customer trial. Later, the order was even increased. In December 2021, DFDS ordered a further 25 units of the electric truck. Delivery of the vehicles is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2022 and the vehicles will be used for transports in the DFDS logistics system in Europe.
