BYD reports another large electric bus order from Finland, with local transport operator Nobina ordering another 70 e-buses, including 42 with a length of 13 meters and 28 with a length of 15 meters.
These are scheduled for delivery in the summer of 2022 and will operate primarily on city routes in the greater Helsinki area. The 13-meter variants are vehicles that are relatively close to the 12-meter buses that are otherwise common in Europe. However, the 15-meter buses with a double axle at the rear are common primarily in Scandinavia for intercity transport. In addition to BYD, Solaris also offers such a 15-meter bus with an electric drive.
Both variants now ordered by Nobina are equipped with LFP batteries from BYD. In the 13-meter bus, one charge is supposed to be enough for 400 kilometers, in the 15-meter bus for 450 kilometers - but BYD does not specify the respective energy content.
This is Nobina Finland's second major order for all-electric buses from BYD: In August, BYD had already delivered 76 e-buses to Nobina for use in Helsinki, completing an order for a total of 119 vehicles. In addition to Helsinki, the vehicles are also in use in Turku. The order included a mix of the twelve-meter buses, 13-meter buses, 15-meter buses and also 18-meter articulated buses.
