Mahle announces chargeBIG Power fast charging solution

At the IAA Mobility, the supplier Mahle announced that it is expanding its range of intelligent charging solutions for e-cars. The chargeBIG system, which is optimised for AC charging, is to be supplemented by the chargeBIG Power charging management system - and thus support fast charging with outputs of up to 750 kW.

It is important to note that chargeBIG Power is not a 750 kW charging station, but a charging management system that supports charging points with potentially up to 750 kW.

According to Mahle, chargeBIG Power is also based on the principle of the familiar AC solution for long-term parking. The charging system intelligently controls the load distribution within the on-site system so that as many e-vehicles as possible can be charged simultaneously at the existing grid connection. What chargeBIG does for company parking lots or parking garages at airports in the AC area, chargeBIG Power is intended to make possible in the DC area - according to Mahle, for example, "especially along long-distance routes".

The well-known AC charging system of the in-house start-up chargeBIG, which Mahle uses for example in its own company car park, at Stuttgart Airport or at LBBW locations, consists at its core of a central control system and very simply designed charging points. Instead of installing a wallbox with its own control system at each individual charging point, with chargeBIG the charging processes are to be coordinated in the central control cabinet. As Mahle states in the announcement on chargeBIG Power, almost 1,000 charging points have been installed by the AC system to date.
