IPT Group has acquired the inductive charging technology "Primove" from Bombardier. The holding company includes IPT Technology, a manufacturer of wireless charging and electrification solutions for industrial and e-mobility applications.
IPT Technology offers, among other things, wireless applications in industrial technology and has developed eMobility solutions for the heavy-duty sector. IPT does not disclose financial details of the deal in the announcement.
Primove was launched in 2008 and has developed inductive charging solutions for buses and light commercial vehicles. In Germany, the Primove technology was tested in a field trial in Mannheim, among other places, but in 2018 after the operator RNV refrained from further procurement.
"Now that the global energy transition and the shift to battery-powered vehicles is gaining momentum, we need to accelerate our product development" says Richard van den Dool, CEO and CCO at IPT. "Our focus will shift from the research, concept and prototype phase to volume product development."
