EnBW bundles eMobility business in new subsidiary

EnBW is spinning off its electromobility business area into an independent company. EnBW mobility+ AG & Co. KG will commence operations on 1 January 2021 and will focus on the fields of charging infrastructure (CPO) and electromobility offerings (EMP).

The wholly-owned subsidiary will thus take over the name of the EnBW charging services, which are known to operate under the label "EnBW mobility+", in the same way as the app. According to EnBW, it should be able to operate even more flexibly and agilely in the dynamic electromobility market and drive forward the successive internationalisation of the range of services. The company will be managed by the previous management team of the electromobility division at EnBW. And there is no lack of financial strength either: in the coming years, up to 100 million euros are to be invested annually in the expansion of electromobility.

In the future, EnBW mobility+ will be responsible, among other things, for the expansion of its parent company's HPC network, which is expected to grow to 1,000 locations in the coming year. EnBW wants to maintain the fast pace with its newly founded subsidiary even beyond this mark: By 2025, its own fast charging network is to be expanded to a size "comparable to that of large filling station operators," according to an accompanying press release.
