Einride orders 120 Mercedes-Benz eActros

Einride is best known to us as the developer of the autonomous e-truck T-Pod, whose futuristic design doesn't even have a cab anymore. But the Swedish startup, founded in 2016, has built other footholds with digital fleet services and third-party vehicle procurement, and now describes itself as a "freight technology company offering digital, electric and autonomous transportation."

It is against this backdrop that the procurement of the 120 eActros units that Mercedes-Benz Trucks has agreed to deliver in mid-2022 is now taking place. The vehicles are the eActros 300 and eActros 400 models with three and four battery packs respectively. The manufacturer does not specify how many units of which model will go to Einride, but the Stuttgart-based company does mention that the cooperation with the Swedish startup is to be extended beyond the current supply agreement to include the "development of joint solutions for the new era of electrified road haulage".

"We continue to expand our global fleet of connected electric vehicles," emphasizes Ellen Kugelberg, Chief Operating Officer of Einride. "In doing so, it is critical for us to match our software solutions with the most powerful technology. We are convinced that we have the right vehicle in this regard with the Mercedes-Benz eActros. Through joint product development, we will continue to successfully drive the electrification of the industry."
