632,000 new-energy passenger cars were sold in China in August, more than in any previous month. Battery-electric passenger cars continue to account for the vast majority of NEV sales in China, with 490,000 new BEVs in August compared to 142,000 PHEVs.
The PSA Group recorded around 120,000 new registrations for electrified models in 2020, one of the reasons it met European CO2 targets, but the French company's total sales slumped 27.8 percent to 2.51 million cars in the crisis year compared to 2019.
Renault has released its 2020 e-car sales statistics, which show that the French automaker managed to sell 115,888 electric vehicles in Europe, roughly double the number sold in 2019. Once again, the company's most successful e-model by far was the Renault Zoe.
Following Mercedes-Benz Cars, Porsche, Audi, VW and the BMW Group have now also published their sales figures for 2020. Although overall sales declined for all manufacturers, sales of electric cars and plug-in hybrids increased significantly - in some cases reaching a double-digit share of total sales.
China's largest electric car makers have released their December 2020 sales figures, taking stock of the year as a whole. Towards the end of 2020, BYD and WM Motor both made gains, as did Nio and Xpeng Motors, with the latter duo posting new sales records for December.
Tesla delivered 499,550 vehicles last year, reaching all but a few units of its pre-Corona pandemic goal of half a million electric cars, and production has already surpassed 500,000.
