Starcar has become the first car rental company in Germany to add the Aiways U5 to its fleet. Specifically, at least 130 of the electric cars will be delivered to Starcar in August and distributed to their locations nationwide.
According to the German Aiways subsidiary based in Munich, the Chinese manufacturer's vehicles will be available to call up and rent directly from Starcar. With the 130 examples of the E-SUV, the electrification quota at Starcar will rise to around 10 percent.
"For us, the Aiways U5 represents an ideal vehicle for consistently expanding the fleet further in the direction of e-mobility," says Stephan Töllner, responsible for the New Mobility division at Starcar. "Whereas we previously only had small and compact cars in our portfolio, with this spacious SUV we are now also appealing to discerning corporate customers, families and sports enthusiasts with extensive equipment."
The U5 is a 4.68-metre SUV with a relatively small boot capacity of 432 litres compared to other e-SUVs in this size class, but it offers a princely amount of legroom in the back seat - and a correspondingly large load compartment when the backrests of the rear seats are folded down.
